Hi, my name is Travis Burdick. I am the K-8 music teacher.
I teach K-5 elementary music, 6th grade choir, and the 7th/8th grade Music Project Class.

I believe every person is musical. This musical ability is one of the gifts of being human--we are musical creatures. We innately love rhythm and melody and we can express ourselves in ways that goes beyond words: “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”  -Victor Hugo.

I strive to make our music classroom a place where students feel safe, where they can develop their imaginations, and engage with their own and others' musical abilities and ideas.

In my classroom everyone can sing, play, and express themelves.

Please feel free to reach out to me through email or in person if you have questions or feedback. Check out what your child is up to in music class in my Plan Book lesson plans (see link to the left). I will also post recordings of our songs as we move through the year.

The expectations for my music classroom are "Be Kind, Listen, and Try." Each day we remind ourselves of these expectations. These are also the criteria with which I use to grade participation in music: Is the student conducting themselves in a kind, respectful way? Is the student listening? Is the student demonstrating they are following directions and giving each day their best?

Here's to a wonderful year of learning, self-expression, and play!

“A child playing air-guitar plays no wrong notes.” -Victor Wooten, music teacher.
