What is the reason for this mill levy?
The elementary school district general fund levy is being run as an operational levy to maintain
current programs, resources, and staffing. This includes salaries, textbooks, utilities, extracurricular
activities, etc.

Why is this an elementary school levy only?
The Red Lodge School District is made up of an elementary (K-8) and high school (9-12) district.
Luther residents have their own elementary district and those students eventually attend Red
Lodge High School. The Red Lodge High School District will not be running a levy this year.
What is the duration of this levy?

Budgets vary annually due to student enrollment, and a combination of state and local funding.
Mills vary annually due to changing taxable values. For example in 2014-2015, the elementary
school levied 71.36 mills for its general fund and this past year the elementary school levied
77.47 mills. If approved, the elementary school district would levy a total of 72.07 general fund
mills in 2018-2019.

When was the last general fund levy?
The last elementary general fund levy run was in 2014, while the last high school general fund
levy was run in 2017.
