"Only as high as I reach can I grow. Only as far as I seek can I go.
Only as deep as I look can I see. Only as much as I dream can I be." - Karen Ravn

Welcome to the Red Lodge High School website. We are very proud of our students, faculty, staff and our tradition of excellence. Our students, staff and school have been consistently recognized for their level of academic and extracurricular leadership achievement in Montana and in the Northwest.  ("Red Lodge High School has been named one of America’s top high schools in Newsweek’s 2014 High School Rankings. As over 14,000 schools were considered for the rankings, we’d like to congratulate Red Lodge High School on this impressive achievement"--refer to article below) As a school, and as a community, we have taken great strides over the years to create a school of quality here at RLHS and we are committed to maintaining our excellence well into the future.

Red Lodge High School is a comprehensive high school; we are fortunate to be able to offer over 75 courses and 24 extracurricular support activities. We encourage our students to take advantage of the academic and extracurricular opportunities that are available at RLHS. We challenge our students to take the toughest courses they feel they can handle. Our student's success in school will be directly proportional to their efforts. This school belongs to our students, parents, and to this community. We have a valuable and important history here at RLHS. We look forward to having a vital and positive future. We want our students to be a contributing part of that future.

Red Lodge High School has moved to a new campus on 800 North Chambers Avenue.   We invite all RLHS parents and community to stop by and tour our new high school facility and the RAMS Event Center.

We are here to help, motivate, support, and to inform our students. Students and parents are urged to discuss any questions or suggestions about policies and opportunities with the staff and administration.

Our goal . . . "that every RLHS student will leave the school capable and willing to make a difference in the world",  a mission that provides the focus we need as we look to build student successes for the future. However, as we celebrate our successes we look to our past and believe it too, is equally important. We are reminded often that our character, our customs and our traditions are built on the spirit, devotion and high ideals of those former students and staff who passed before us.

As you tour through our website and develop a snap shot of what, and who we are, I hope you will feel the same high level of "RLHS Pride" that those of us associated with Red Lodge High School have grown accustomed to.

On behalf of the RLHS Instructional Team, and myself, I would like to thank our parents and community who have stood behind our school in support of the positive accomplishments we have achieved throughout the past eleven years that I have been serving as high school principal. The 2015-16 school year will be filled with incredible successes for RLHS students because so many of you volunteer your time, stop by and visit, drop in to resolve problems that arise, and offer supportive suggestions that help us continue to strive towards making RLHS one of the top schools in our state. This is an important time for our youth where parents and community can unite to support RLHS, our school system and the crucial programs that strive to make this place of learning a grand experience for all students who enter our doors. I invite you to please stop by and visit or call if we can answer your questions, resolve concerns, or assist you in any way. To continue being one of the best high school programs in the state requires our entire community-parents and school working together--moving in the same direction as partners.  When you visit our new high school campus, I think you will see the incredible pride and renewed spirit that is present in our new "state of the art" facility.

Please contact us if you need more information about our wonderful school and community.

With Sincere Appreciation For Your Continued Support!

***** RLHS is truly a "one in a million" high school. We have three students who have gone through the program. All three were well prepared for college and are succeeding because of the influences at RLHS. The building principal is one of the best. Greets every student at the door every day with a smile and a "great day greeting". He truly goes the extra mile and so do the teachers. There is a positive, uplifting spirit throughout the building. The kind of place kids deserve. A superior high school and state of the art new building campus. Most beautiful HS campus in the state!!!

Set in the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains, an hour south of Billings, the District and staff are committed to helping our students achieve and succeed in life. Approximately 30% of our Seniors score a 25 or higher on the ACT and the majority go on to a two or four year college. We offer a broad range of classes and have one of the most stringent graduation requirements of high schools in Montana.

Selected Among Newsweek's High School Rankings Winners

    America's Top Schools 2014

*Red Lodge High School has been named one of America’s top high schools in Newsweek’s 2014 High School Rankings. As over 14,000 schools were considered for the rankings, we’d like to congratulate Red Lodge High School on this impressive achievement *

For more than a decade, Newsweek has published an annual list of America’s Top High Schools, ranked primarily according to a ratio of AP/IB exams to the number of students graduating. This year we’re doing things a little differently.

Newsweek’s 2014 Rankings highlights schools that do the absolute best job of preparing students for college. This year, our methodology is more stringent than ever with new measures of quality and a higher standard for data. This is our way of recognizing schools that narrow the achievement gap.

With help from the research firm Westat, we present two separate rankings: an absolute list and a relative list that we’re calling “America’s Top High Schools for Low-Income Students.” The first list identifies top-performing schools based on a metric of student achievement and college preparedness data provided by the National Center for Education Statistics and from our survey of schools. Red Lodge High School scored 313th place out of the top 500 schools from across the nation on the first list. Only four schools from the state of Montana achieved this distinction, Red Lodge High School being one of the four.

It will come as no surprise that this list is dominated by schools in areas with high average income and low racial diversity. So we produced a second list that takes into consideration how well schools serve students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds—measured by the percentage of students qualifying for free school lunches. Again, Red Lodge High School was in 357th place out of 500 top schools from across the nation on this second list.
